I have just purchased a 1988 K5 Blazer with a 6.2 Diesel. The problem is when you start it cold it smokes. It is white smoke clearly unburnt fuel, not water, very strong fuel smell. It smokes for about 2.5 to 3 minutes then completely stops.

The times I forget to plug in my block heater (It's on a timer), it will smoke. If it's not up to temp., I wouldn't be stepping on the gas hard, def. not good for the motor.
